Modern wooden sculpture by Roland Lavianne

4800 €

Modern and abstract wooden sculpture, placed on an iron base. Part of studio collection of Roland LAVIANNE (1948-2022). This collection was acquired in collaboration with 'Igmar Stuer ancient objects' (Aalst - Belgium and Paul Bert market, Paris Saint-Ouen) and @pschantiques (Paul Bert market, Paris Saint-Ouen) Simplifying the features in the extreme, Roland LAVIANNE develops a powerful play on volumes, shapes and lines, using the light as a key construction material. Roland LAVIANNE conveying a real mastery of the balance of volumes and lines of force. The figures, immobile but dynamic, seems lost in a theatrical conversation suspended for ever.

Artwork 'Double mirror 1' by Ren Han

Artwork 'Double mirror 1' by Ren Han

Artwork ' Double mirror 1' made by Chinese contemporary artist Ren Han. This work is made with following technique 'Pencil on paper' in 2012. The strong shape of the circle in combination with the structure of the pencil lines who are following the center point of the circle, gives a very special depth in the artwork. The paper is mounted on a wooden frame and signed on the back. In perfect condition. Ren Han was born in 1984 in Tianjin, China. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 2006, then he graduated from the Villa Arson (Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art in Nice) in 2011 and obtained the DNSEP (National Superior Diploma of Expression of Plastic Arts). In the same year, he was selected for the Jeune Creation in France. In 2017 Ren Han won the Rock Award from Wang Shikuo Art Foundation and Today Art Museum. In 2019 he was selected for the Salon de Montrouge and received the fellowship from the French Ministry of Culture, Department of Hauts-de-Seine and city of Montrouge. Ren Han's work can be regarded as a series of systematic researches on artistic creation, image, and visual experience, which are deeply rooted in the context of visual cultural consumption in the post-network era. His works include drawings, installations, and site-specific works. He reproduces and processes ready-made objects/images. The strange and primitive relationship between human beings and nature is the theme often discussed by Ren Han. He questions the meaning of human beings’ continuous construction and destruction driven by desire. The duality presented in his works not only denote the eternal co-existence of binary oppositions of self and other, but also the philosophical relationships of mind and matter, mind and body, as well as man and nature.

Modernist desk by Pierre Guariche (1926-1995)

Minimalistic desk designed by Pierre Guariche in 1961 and produced by Meurop in Belgium. Made of warm teak wood with a modernist touch thanks to the black lacquered metal frame and ebonised handles. This model has an extra drawer in the middle under the tabletop, which is quite rare. Designer Pierre Guariche was born in 1926. He studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, graduating in 1949. He then worked in the studio of Marcel Gascoin and presented his first designs at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs and the Salon des Arts Ménagers. In 1953, he designed the mythical « Tonneau » chair for Steiner, first in plastic (1953) and then in bent plywood (1954). In 1954 he founded the Atelier de Recherche Plastique with Joseph-André Motte and Michel Mortier. In 1957, he was named Artistic Director of furniture manufacturer Meurop. He then shared his knowledge with the students of the Ecole Supérieure d’Architecture de Tournai and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris. He knew how to bring a personal, innovative touch to design, combining aestheticism and series production. His heart’s desire was to respond to the requirements of his era by making use of series production techniques. His creations, such as the Tonneau chair (1953 and 1954), the Tulipe chair (1956) and the Président desk (1961), have become legendary pieces. Key not included, drawers are open.

Floor lamp by Louis Sognot 1960

Floor lamp by Louis Sognot 1960

A bamboo and woven rattan floor lamp designed by Louis Sognot (1892-1970), France, 1960s. Six bamboo poles work as external scaffolding for the off-white, linen lampshade. The lampshade is suspended by subtle stitched cotton loops between two woven rattan rings. This wooden ‘exoskeleton’ ensures that all materials are on display and equally appreciated, whilst also conveying a harmony between the unrefined texture of the bamboo and the fabric. Louis Sognot worked on many projects together with Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier. He was also founder of the 'Salon du meuble Paris'.
